Puntius Titteya (Deraniyagala, 1929)

English Name - Cherry Barb
Sinhala Name - ලේ තිත්තියා

Puntius Titteya.
An endemic fish species distributed  in the wet zone of Southern and western provinces of Sri Lanka. The  Cherry barbs are recorded from shaded , slow flowing, shallow streams with the muddy and leaf litter substratum and prefers areas with submerged aquatic vegetation. small numbers of the species are exported in the aquarium trade (Gunasekara, 2011). The  Cherry barb is listed as an Endangered fish species in the National red list 2012
