Olivetti Typewriter [WIP]

Hello,
I’d like to show a project I’ve been working on for some days. It’s a relatively accurate typewriter, losely based on one of my most beloved possessions, an Olivetti Lettera 32.
I’ve gotten to a decent point with the hard surface modeling part, so I’d like to show you where I am so far:

Overview

This typewriter is realistic, but relatively so. What mattered the most to me was to have the visible mechanical bits to be faithful to reality, as I want to rig them and use them for an animation with many closeups to the letters being written to a sheet of paper. For this reason, what you can see is quite accurate. However, what is not visible is not that realistic, but I am not planning on building a full typewriter for scratch, I just want one that looks real

Now, the following steps await me:

  1. Texturing. I’m going to do it completely procedurally with Blender.
  2. Rigging it. I want to have a rig in place so that when I press a key, the right letter stick moves.
  3. Animating it for a short video I have in mind.

I’ll post my progress here.
Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback!

That is well done. I like the details you have paid attention to. The letters on the sticks will be a sight to behold. Watching this all move would truly rock.
This will be a nice project to follow. Good luck.

Thanks a lot! I also cannot wait to see it textured, as I really think that the inky-consumed metal sticks will potentially look great. Here’s a quick reference picture of the effect I have in mind.
Thanks again!

Hello!
Just a quick update. I’ve taken a few days off the project to improve my procedural material technique, and I think it’s already paying off. Here are a few screenshots of my progress. As you can see, only inner mechanism and a few details are not textured yet. Every texture is procedural and made by me. I’m quite happy with it for now. Texturing is probably the part I love the most, so I’m really enjoying this stage.

Here are a few renders with Eevee:
