Johnny Depp

Résumé

Johnny Depp was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. During his marriage to a makeup artist, Depp took on jobs such as an ink pen telemarketer. Depp had never even considered acting until his then wife introduced him to actor Nicholas Cage, who advised him that he should pursue acting. Johnny's early film work included A Nightmare on Elm Street, Platoon, and Cry-Baby. Besides movies, much of Depp's early success also came from the television series 21 Jump Street in 1987, which had many magazines labeling him a heartthrob.

In 1990, Depp started collaborating with director Tim Burton on the film Edward Scissorhands. He has starred in Benny and Joon, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Donnie Brasco, and Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, as well as in the blockbuster Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl as Captain Jack Sparrow. The role also garnered him his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor. The following year he'd once again find himself nominated for the film Finding Neverland.
