Boxer Dog with 'No Idea of What Personal Space Is' Perches on Owner Like a Parrot — Watch!

A boxer dog named Luna recently surprised her owners with an unusual stance.

In a video shared by Amy McLoughlin of Washington Township, New Jersey, the canine perches on the shoulders of Amy's husband, Brian.

"Luna, you're one strange dog," Amy says in the clip. "She's going to try and sit on your head. I think she's bird-watching now."

"All I could do was laugh," Amy tells PEOPLE. "She is truly a clown."

The couple got Luna from an acquaintance in August 2022, when the dog was 8 weeks old. They had recently lost another boxer, 12-year-old Apollo, and thought it might be too soon for a new puppy, but when they saw Luna, they couldn't say no. 

Amy says they also have two older boxers, Shadow and Zeus, who "adore" Luna.

Luna "first started to act like a parrot" after seeing Zeus on Brian's lap, Amy explains. "She was jealous of the attention Zeus was getting and decided to climb up him and get higher than Zeus, knocking him off and perching on his shoulder."

"Boxers seem to have no idea of what personal space is in general," she adds. "They are always following one of us around, even into the shower."

Amy says Luna often makes the couple laugh with her "unique personality."

"She teases our older boxers and steals their toys," she explains. "She pushes our guests out of their seats. She will give a little swat on the arm for a guest to play with her or pet her. When she wants you to get out of bed, she will simply sit on you. She is also the sweetest little thing. She cuddles under the covers in bed and takes naps snuggled into us or snuggled with our other dogs."

Amy calls Luna "a permanent puppy."

"She still will play with the toilet paper and take it and run," she says. "She is our alarm clock, swatting us to get up, and when that doesn't work, she will sit on us. She steals every toy from her older siblings, and they let her. She loves to run around the yard and be chased. She is also very vocal. She has a little whine she does when she wants something or to get your attention."

Amy credits Shadow and Zeus with raising Luna into a "goofy and lovable sweetheart," much like themselves.

"They love to run laps around the yard," she says of the trio of dogs. "Shadow is a senior, so she cannot keep up all the time, but they all love to nap together. We are smitten with the three of them."
