The Diamond Goby, known by various names such as Pretty Prawn, Maiden, Orange Spotted Diamond, Orange-dashed, or Orangespotted Sleeper Goby, was first identified in the Indo-Pacific Ocean in 1956 by Tomiyama. Its head and body display a combination of white coloration with orange spots. This timid fish is highly suitable for reef tanks due to its longevity, making it a great addition.

To provide suitable habitat for the Diamond Goby, it should be housed in an aquarium with a capacity of at least 30 gallons or larger. Live sand serves as the ideal substrate, and an attached, well-populated refugium is recommended. The Diamond Goby utilizes shallow burrows in the substrate as a refuge, contributing to the oxygenation of the sand. While it generally maintains a non-aggressive nature towards other fish, it can exhibit territorial behavior and engage in fights with its own kind, unless they form a mated pair.

Feeding primarily off the bottom as it sifts through the sand, the Diamond Goby requires a diverse diet. This should include live and frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, live black worms, and prepared foods suitable for carnivores. Frequent feeding is essential to meet its nutritional requirements.
