Feeding: Will eat purposefully sunken foods like algae wafers, vegetables, and calcerous material like cuttlebone. Will also eat dead plant matter and may damage healthy plants if given the chance
Notes: Despite the name, the Giant Ramshorn Snail is not closely related to the more prolific Colombian Ramshorn Snail (Planorbis corneus). They are in fact related to Apple Snails, very few of which tolerate any salinity in their water.

An air breather, Giant Ramshorns do best in shallow tanks. Like Apple Snails, their long antennae are prone to being nipped by even some of the more easy-going fish and are best kept with completely inoffensive fish (like the Least Killifish) or in their own aquarium. Unlike Apple Snails, however, eggs are laid below the water’s surface on plant leaves. They are not known for multiplying to pest proportions like Colombian Ramshorns and Malaysian Trumpet Snails are, though.
