Windows Vista looks very clean

I’ve been thoroughly impressed, especially as an improvement from the beta, at the appearance and performance of Windows Vista. The Control Panel has a nice amount of new features with better organization, the Sidebar is nice to use, and the added security in the OS makes my security confidence closer to that which I have in Linux.

The only real downside is that it feels a little “gummy” and thick, not the very quick performance I would get out of Windows 98 or XP. It eats up a lot of memory, nearly 40% of 2GB from simply booting up and logging in. Also, many manufacturers have very mediocre and low-feature device drivers. Notably: NVidia and Creative Labs.

Here’s a screenshot:

  1. PS. Your ident checker is virtually impossible to decipher! I had to recreat the ID 6 or so times to get something I could read. (Maybe that’s just my idiocy showing through.)
