For the breeding of Trichogaster labiosua (Day), male and female individuals were kept in the ratio of 1:1 in clean and clear water containing the aquatic weeds, Hydrilla sp. Trichogaster labiosua easily bred in the aquarium conditions on gradually increasing temperature of aquarium water. Nesting behaviour of the fish was observed within the temperature range 24−28⁰C. Spawning rate ranged from 20,000−25,000. The developmental period was observed between18−25 days.

The banded gourami, Colisa fasciata has high food as well as ornamental value in Bangladesh and demanded species to domestication due to rapid declination of natural population. The spawning performance of C. fasciata was investigated by using different hormones in the captive aquarium condition. There were three treatments conducted such as induce breeding using PG (T1), HCG (T2) and ovaprim (T3). Each treatment had two more replications. In each aquarium, single pair of brood was stocked. The water parameter ranged such as temperature, pH and DO were 26-29o C, 7.2-8.5 and 3.5-4.5 mg/l respectively. Hormones were administered into female in two doses; a lower priming dose followed a 6 h interval by a higher resolving dose. In first dose, PG, HCG and Ovaprim were injected in female at 10 mg/kg, 400 IU/kg and 0.5 ml/kg of body weight respectively. The second dose was applied to both male and female and female received double amount than the male. Among the three treatments, 100% spaw...

Growth pattern, condition factor and reproductive aspects of three spot gourami Trichopodus trichopterus (Pallas, 1770) in mangrove waters of Muara Angke Jakarta and Ciperet Cilacap, Indonesia2021 •
Mangrove ecosystem is a unique and interesting ecosystem which inhabited by many fish species such as three spot gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus). This study aimed to determine length-weight relationship (LWR), growth pattern, condition factor, sex ratio and gonad maturity stage of three spot gourami from mangrove waters of Muara Angke Jakarta and the Ciperet Cilacap, Indonesia. Fish samples were collected by cast net and gill net at four research stations in Muara Angke and Ciperet Cilacap from January to March 2014 and September to October 2012, respectively. The total length and total wet weight were measured, subsequently, the sex and stage of gonad maturity were morphologically determined. The LWRs of three spot gourami in Muara Angke were W = 6E-05L 2.893 for male and W = 0,0003L 2.619 for female, whereas, the LWRs of male and female in Ciperet estuary were W = 0,0007L 2.371 and W = 0,0006L 2.444 , respectively. Moreover, the growth pattern of the male one in Muara Angke was isometry, while the female was negative allometry. In Ciperet estuary, the growth patterns for male and female were negative allometric. The Fulton's condition factors for males and females in the Muara Angke were ranged from 3.7118±0.7847 and 1.0014±0.0551, respectively. Whereas, in the Ciperet estuary, the condition factor values were ranged from 1.0011 ± 0.0485 and 1.0024 ± 0.0685 for males and females, respectively. The sex ratio for males and females on the Chi-square test with a confidence interval of 95% (α = 0.05) was significantly different by 1:1.93 in Muara Angke and 1:1.69 in Ciperet estuary. In both areas, various maturity stages of gonad were found, with different dominant maturity stage. In Muara Angke, most of the fish were at higher gonadal maturity stages (III and IV), whereas in Ciperet estuary the lower gonadal maturity stages (I and II) was found.

Embryonic development of banded gourami, Colisa fasciata in captive condition2017 •
The experiment was conducted to provide information on the embryonic development of banded gourami, C. fasciata under controlled aquarium condition. The process of embryonic development was divided into seven phases- the zygote, cleavage, morula, blastula, gastrula, segmentation and hatching periods. At fertilization, the eggs were 0.35-0.50 mm in diameter which displayed total length of 0.50-0.70 mm, 22 hours after fertilization. First cleavage was recorded within 35 minutes after fertilization and the embryonic rudiments of developing eggs appeared at 21-22 hours. Cleavage resulted into 64-128 blastomeres and the crown of the blastoderm starts spreading over the yolk in the form of a thin layer in morula stage. In gastrula, blastoderm covered 3/4th of the yolk and embryonic shield was clearly visible. The embryo shows conspicuous muscular contractions and the beating heart at 22 hours after fertilization. This embryonic studies support phylogenetic development by presenting suppor...
