Ichthyofauna of the lower course of the Prut river (Larga river sector (KM 120) - confluence with river Danube)2021 •
The present written work represents the results of the research of the ichthyofauna from the lower course of the Prut River (including the Manta puddle and the Beleu lake) in terms of succession. It was established that, as a result of anthropogenic actions (drying of over 27-30 thousand ha of puddles, dam of the banks of the Prut River and its tributaries, extraction of sand and river stone from the minor riverbed, irreversible use of water in irrigation and industries, pollution, construction of the Costești-Stânca dam, destruction of wood cuts for lithifile and phytophilic species, etc.) in the ichthyofauna on the lower course of the Prut River, there were significant changes in diversity, quantitative and qualitative composition, and functional status of fish populations.

The Kura and Aras rivers are largest rivers of the Caucasus rising from Turkey flowing through the Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran, draining to Caspian Sea. This study was carried out at 19 sampling sites along the entire basin between the years 2014 and 2015 in order to describe the diversity of the ichthyofauna of the Kura-Aras River Basin. Fish were collected with the use of an electrofishing device in streams and gill nets in lakes. A total of 19 fish species were observed in the study period. Based on previous studies and the sampled species during the study period, we document the presence of 32 fish species belonging to 11 families living in the Turkish part of the basin. Of these, 23 fish species are endemic to the Kura-Aras River and Caspian Sea basins, and are not found in any other river basins of Turkey.

NEW SCIS PROPOSAL REGARDING THE ICHTHYOFAUNA AFTER THE CONTINENTAL BIOGEOGRAPHIC SEMINAR FOR ROMANIA, SIBIU (TRANSYLVANIA, ROMANIA), 9-12 JUNE 20082012 •
The main objectives of the European Community's environmental policy are the protection, conservation and improvement of environment quality. These objectives should be accomplished in the context of the rational use of the resources and in the understanding of the services those ecosystems provide. Over the last few decades the protection of biodiversity has been one of the main goals. The aim of this paper is to give some data and related arguments for the proposal of new Natura 2000 sites for 15 fish species. At the Continental Biogeographical Seminar for the Romanian national territory (held at the "Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, Sibiu, 9-12 June 2008) it was determined that the distribution areas of some fish species are not entirely covered within the already proposed and accepted Natura 2000 sites, so additional proposals were requested by the European Union representatives. Consequently, this article proposes some new Natura 2000 sites, to be considered at future bilateral Continental biogeographic discussions for Romania (scheduled for the end of 2012). The suggested European Community sites of interest in this article are based on the authors’ field survey data using specific criteria (well preserved fish populations; stable fish populations; healthy fish populations; typical natural habitats; relatively low human impact; favorable geographical position). The following fish species of conservation interest were included: Alosa pontica/Alosa immaculata, Umbra krameri, Aspius aspius, Barbus meridionalis, Gobio albipinnatus, Gobio kesslerii, Gobio uranoscopus, Pelecus cultratus, Rhodeus sericeus amarus, Cobitis elongata, Cobitis taenia, Misgurnus fossilis, Gymnocephalus schraetzer, Zingel streber and Zingel zingel.
