Tajetdinova, D. M. 2013 12 31: Ceratophyllum submersum and Argusia sibirica, new reords from plateau Ustyurt, Uzbekistan.-Iran. J. Bot. Bot. 10 (2): 259-262. Tehran. Among the plant materials collected from Ustyurt of the Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan), two new record including Ceratophyllum submersum (Ceratophyllaceae) and Argusia sibirica (Boraginaceae), were recognized among the specimens. The new records and a photo of a herbarium specimen are presented in this paper. Tajetdinova Dilarom Mnajatdinovna, Ph. D., senior researcher,
The genus Ceratophyllum is represented in the Bulgarian Neogene flora by four species determined in eight local palaeofloras from Western Bulgaria. Stratigraphically they are distributed from the Volhynian to the border be-tween Pontian and Dacian. Of particular importance is C. balcanicum, found only in the early Pontian flora of Melnik, because it has the greatest morphological similarity to the modern North American C. echinatum, while other fossil species have nearest living relatives in Europe or Asia. In the course of the study two findings from the palaeofloras of Gaber and Ognyanovo were revised. These fossils have been previously published as Potamogeton pectinatus foss. and Ceratophyllum demersum foss., and they are revised here as C. submersum foss. This information represents important stages of the evolution and distribution of the genus Ceratophyllum in temporal and geographical aspects on the territory of Bulgaria and Europe.

Diversity, biogeography, and photosynthetic pathways of Argusia and Heliotropium (Boraginaceae) in South-West Asia with an analysis of phytogeographical units2007 •
South-West and Central Asia are major centres of diversity in the genus Heliotropium. On the basis of detailed taxonomic studies and information gathered from the literature, a synopsis of 61 known species of Heliotropium and two species of Arguzia in the area is given. Iran, with 32 species and 14 (sub)endemic species, has the highest diversity. The photosynthetic pathways of 42 taxa were determined using the isotope composition method. Except for H. marifolium Retz s.l. and H. rariflorum Stocks, all remaining species analysed showed δ13C values characteristic for C3 photosynthesis. Evidently, by contrast with the families Chenopodiaceae and Polygonaceae, the Irano-Turanian area is not an authochthonous region of developing C4 species in Heliotropium. The distribution maps of 57 taxa are provided and their biogeographical importance is discussed in order to elucidate the distribution patterns in South-West Asia. In the Irano-Turanian region, the Irano-Anatolian province of Zohary, which extends from central Anatolia to the western Himalaya, is a very large and vaguely defined phytochorion that should be split into smaller units. The consideration of southern Iran and adjacent Pakistan as part of the Sudanian or Saharo-Sindian regions (sensu either Zohary or Léonard) cannot be accepted, because most endemic species in this area are either typical Irano-Turanian or isolated relicts. Furthermore, it is concluded that the Saharo-Sindian flora is not an autochthonous flora; most species are of transgressive origin from the surrounding phytochoria. Finally, a new species, Heliotropium ziegleri Akhani, is described from Iran. © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2007, 155, 401–425.

Ten new records of vascular plants for the flora of Uzbekistan (Asteraceae2017 •
Ten species of vascular plants newly recorded in Uzbekistan are presented. The first record of Anthemis ruthenica from the northern side of the Alay range is confirmed, and the species was found for the second time in a neighborhood of Tashkent as an alien. Carduus arabicus as a native plant in Central Asia is recorded for the first time from Western Pamir-Alay. Chondrilla brevirostris, C. macrocarpa, and C. phaeocephala are from the desert and adyrs zones. Crinitaria tatarica and Crepis mira collected from Western Tien-Shan are presented, Olgaea baldschuanica first recorded on the Babatag range of mountains as a subendemic species and Erigeron andryaloides from the Hissar range are reported here as among the flora of Uzbekistan. The former Centaurea apiculata Ledeb. was accepted as a synonym of C. scabiosa L. subsp. apiculata. All records were collected in different habitats of Uzbekistan. Taxonomic remarks, pictures and distribution maps for these species are provided.

A morphological study of Ceratophyllum tanaiticum, a species new to the flora of HungaryCeratophyllum tanaiticum Sapjegin, a species new to the flora of Hungary, was discovered at two localities in the Hungarian part of the Drava Plain in 2008. These are the westernmost, disjunct localities of this Pontic-Caspian endemic species. For characterization of the Hungarian specimens, nine morphological features of nine Ceratophyllum taxa were used in PCA, CVA analyses and UPGMA classification. In these analyses Hungarian and other C. tanaiticum samples always formed a cluster distinct from other Ceratophyllum taxa. These results confirm an earlier concept in which the character peduncle length contributed the highest loading value for separating C. tanaiticum from other 3–4 leaf-ordered species. Microscopic morphological features, including the number of longitudinally arranged lacunae in one row of parenchymatic tissue between the first and the second dichotomic branching, the length of the sequence between the first and second branching of leaves; number, morphology and wi...
