Introduction The plateau of Ustyurt is in territories of Uzbekistan (Karakalpakstan), Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Ustyurt is located between Caspian and Aral Sea (in limits 4550 and 412; 5825 and 5600). It represents a raised table plateau with absolute heights 160-300 m, bordered from different directions more and less distinct breakages, so-called “chinks”, height 190-256 m. The genus Ceratophyllum L. is mainly distributed in Irano-Turanian region. According to Kovalevskaja (1972) 4 species grow in Central Asia. Korotkova (1953) indicates 2 species the for flora of Uzbekistan. According to Korovina et al. (1982), Ceratophyllum submersum L. (Fig. 1) only occurs in delta of AmuDarya. The list of Sarybaev (1994), which studied the flora of the plateau of Ustyurt does not include this species. In time the German-Uzbek-Kazakh expedition the flora of the southern part Ustyurt was studied (2012) by route and semi-station methods, in the borders of Karakalpakstan. In these investigations...
The genus Ceratophyllum is represented in the Bulgarian Neogene flora by four species determined in eight local palaeofloras from Western Bulgaria. Stratigraphically they are distributed from the Volhynian to the border be-tween Pontian and Dacian. Of particular importance is C. balcanicum, found only in the early Pontian flora of Melnik, because it has the greatest morphological similarity to the modern North American C. echinatum, while other fossil species have nearest living relatives in Europe or Asia. In the course of the study two findings from the palaeofloras of Gaber and Ognyanovo were revised. These fossils have been previously published as Potamogeton pectinatus foss. and Ceratophyllum demersum foss., and they are revised here as C. submersum foss. This information represents important stages of the evolution and distribution of the genus Ceratophyllum in temporal and geographical aspects on the territory of Bulgaria and Europe.

Ten new records of vascular plants for the flora of Uzbekistan (Asteraceae2017 •
Ten species of vascular plants newly recorded in Uzbekistan are presented. The first record of Anthemis ruthenica from the northern side of the Alay range is confirmed, and the species was found for the second time in a neighborhood of Tashkent as an alien. Carduus arabicus as a native plant in Central Asia is recorded for the first time from Western Pamir-Alay. Chondrilla brevirostris, C. macrocarpa, and C. phaeocephala are from the desert and adyrs zones. Crinitaria tatarica and Crepis mira collected from Western Tien-Shan are presented, Olgaea baldschuanica first recorded on the Babatag range of mountains as a subendemic species and Erigeron andryaloides from the Hissar range are reported here as among the flora of Uzbekistan. The former Centaurea apiculata Ledeb. was accepted as a synonym of C. scabiosa L. subsp. apiculata. All records were collected in different habitats of Uzbekistan. Taxonomic remarks, pictures and distribution maps for these species are provided.
