	Ulva sp. sea lettuce is a present-day, edible green algae (Chlorophyta) eaten by many sea creatures, including sea slugs and manatees, and by humans in Japan and elsewhere.  Ulva is in the kingdom Plantae, the phyllum Chlorophyta, the class Ulvophyceae, the order Ulvales, and the family Ulvaceae. Sea lettuce is widely found along seacoasts. Its blades or leaves are 25-50 cm (8-16 inches) in length. Chlorophyta algae is the ancestor of green land plants, which first appeared in the Late Cambrian and Ordovician periods, about 500-480 mya.    Reference:
