FACTS about

Canis Panther

In the 70's in the Chicago area, a few men of color worked as dog trainers and helpers.  At that time, they were not sold any dogs from that area and importing a dog was not affordable.
They decided to create their own breed, a dog that was the ultimate protector.

One of those creators was Michael "Gypsy" Stratten, from Rock Of Age Kennel. He and his wife Lori Berg have developed and maintained the original line of Canis Panther for many years. Because of that I grateful to have my first,  the foundation female,  from them.

NOT OFFICIAL

As of now, this breed is not recognized by any major Kennel Club. The breed does not have a FCI standard, but is developed, with established bloodlines and has multi-generation pedigrees.

HISTORY

This breed was first registered in the United States in the 1970's by Mr.  "Scorpio" Jones, Mr. Michael "Gypsy" Stratten and Mr. L. Lopez.

MIX OF 4 BREEDS

The original Canis Panther is the perfect combination of Great Dane, Labrador Retriever, Doberman Pinscher, and the American Staffordshire Terrier.

PROTECTION DOG

It was created to protect its owner and their property. Canis Panther should be naturally protective of its family.

NOT A HUNTER

Despite its name, it was not created or ever used to hunt Panthers. It got its name because it looks similar to one.

TEMPERAMENT

Can be dominant, needs an experienced owner.  Reserved towards strangers by its nature. Sensitive and loyal to its family. Easy to train, but will need  structure.

HEALTH

Generally healthy breed, but does have some genetic issues, such as vWD. Not a lot of known health testing was done to the breed til recently.

CARE

Minimal grooming is required. Indoor dog due to its short fur. Being an active breed it needs daily exercise and mental stimulation. Does need early socialization.

BREEDING VISION

I have been working with dogs far over decade. I have worked with hundreds of dogs, trained, showed in high level and breed, but I still felt like I had not had my hands on the "right" breed.  After years of research, preparation and headache, I imported to Europe first Canis Panther puppy in the summer of 2019, from Rock of Ages kennel, USA. Getting her overseas was a true challenge, but now I can say that I have found the breed that can be what I am looking for in a dog.

Not only does the breed have the looks and is generally healthy, but it also got the brain. My main goal is to produce puppies, who have clear head and are easy to live with. They should have natural protection instincts, without being aggressive or fearful. Ideally medium energy and drive. Ready to train and do something if asked so, but happy to just to relax with its person. I do and always will health test my dogs and focus on breeding healthy, happy & sound puppies.

why us

“It's not about making the right choice.
It's about making a choice and making it right.”

WHY US

Selecting

Selection is the foundation for good breeding. To ensure breeding as close to my vision, I am pairing dogs according to their health, temperament, bloodline and type.

Raising

All of the puppies and my dogs are given high quality nutrition to optimize growth and development. Puppies will be taken care of and loved as my own dogs, as my family, in my home.

Training

From the moment the puppies are born they are handled and desensitized to different stressors daily. They will have short individual training sessions to develop their drives and behavior. Crate and potty manners will be introduced to them.

Socialization

From the time the puppies are old enough, they will be introduced to outdoors, different environments and places, sounds and smells.  They will meet people of different size and ways.

Placement

All of my puppies take the Puppy Personality test when they are old enough. All of the owners to my puppies will be chosen based upon the suitability and temperament of the puppy, to ensure right fit for their new family. I will only place puppies to approved homes after meeting the potential owner in person.

Support

Owners of puppies will get a life long support and care.  Getting a puppy from us, you will be part of the "family".  I will organize meetings for puppies and their owners for the owners get to know each other, train together and to see how the puppies are doing.
