*SHE DOES NOT PRACTICE FGM, SHE JUST IS AN FGM APOLOGIST AND PROMOTES IT DUE TO HER RELIGIOUS VIEWS*

As someone who is passionate about women's health and is studying public health, I feel like every day society finds a way to be horrid to women. I used to follow this woman called Haifaa Younis, who called herself an Islamic student of knowledge, and used to talk about the religion and her experiences. She is also a board certified OBGYN in the state of Missouri. I then, saw one of her videos where she discussed the matter of FGM with another woman, and I really thought she would convey to her audience about how barbaric, dangerous, deplorable, and just how un-Islamic this practice was. But, to my utter shock, she said quote:

"It (FGM) serves a useful purpose to reduce desire. This is seeking perfection." I then felt nauseous. She disguised FGM with the term "female genital cutting", to deceive a naive audience, or God knows what reason. She even suggested that "female circumcision", again another euphemism for FGM, is a "Sunnah", meaning an encouraged practice in Islam. She then stated quote, "There are reports in the Sunnah that circumcision for women is prescribed in Islam."

This kind of mentality is common in countries plagued with religious extremism as well as in developing countries which follow such mindless and cruel practices. But, I was shell shocked to hear that an OBGYN, who had taken the Hippocratic oath to not harm anyone, and be truthful and loyal to her work would cause such a gash to women's health. It is simply not acceptable, and moreso-- DANGEROUS to let such a person in our health system where hundreds of vulnerable women may go to her, and she may encourage such horrid and barbaric practices. 

I, as a passionate person in public health, am imploring you all to sign this petition to revoke the license of Dr Haifaa Younis for her overt harmful and anti-health and anti-human rights statements. Maybe, one by one, we can help the community by calling out such individuals who are spreading such a doctrine and dogma that harm millions of innocent women.
