In December, star dot our landscape in Christmas decor. Tonight, the sky itself will provide a spectacle.

While not technically a star, Jupiter and Saturn align tonight in the west-southwestern sky, just above the horizon and it will be noteworthy to be sure. These two largest planets have been working their way together, but tonight’s the night we can see them join.

It’s a clear night on this winter solstice.  Let’s check it out!
