Like our own, the Star Wars universe just keeps expanding. In addition to the 12 movies, shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian are only taking us deeper and deeper into a galaxy far, far away. And while that's a boon for Star Wars fans, it's an even bigger advantage for those who love Halloween, because that just means more and more opportunities for Star Wars family Halloween costumes.
If you're looking to do a family costume or a group costume, Star Wars is perfect because there are so many heroes, villains, creatures and droids that everyone can pick their favorites, and there's a good chance there won't be too many overlaps. Plus, it's been around for so long that parents can dress as the beloved characters they remember from childhood, like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia or Han Solo, and their kids can pick from the newer favorites, like Baby Yoda, Rey, Finn or Poe. You can even find Star Wars-themed costumes for dogs and bring the family pooch into the act. Just remember the one rule: Always maintain balance in the Force.
And if Obi-Wan Kenobi has taught us anything, it's that there's more Jedi than we previously realized, scattered along The Path around the galaxy. If your brood all wants to be matching Jedi, you can make these no-sew Jedi costumes.
The Obi-Wan series is also a Princess Leia story, which may drum up interest in those side buns once again. Leia costumes always make a statement, even if they seem like they could be simple white dresses. If you don't DIY, you can buy this in adult sizes or kid sizes.
The great thing about Star Wars is that there are enough characters to have everyone in your family dress as their favorite, spanning different decades and eras, and you probably won't have to repeat characters.
The perfect Rose Tico costume is really all about the hair. The rest of it is easy to pull together: All you need are some coveralls and boots, and then you're ready to go off in search of a master codebreaker. If you have siblings, double them up and make them Rose and Paige.

The Anakin and Padme Meme
Disney
This meme format has been blasted around the internet faster than Han Solo could do the Kessel Run — and it's pretty easy to re-create for a perfect couple's costume. The Anakin costume is widely available. Amidala's look is trickier: Exact re-creations of her dress are out there, but pricey, so you might be better off DIYing with the starting point of a yellow dress with flowers. Then, there's the headband, which you can buy, or make yourself with a headband and bun covers. Bonus points if you carry around whiteboards so others can meme-ify you.
