"Weird Al" Yankovic is America's foremost song parodist, with wildly popular send-ups of hit songs, such as Eat It, Like a Surgeon, Smells Like Nirvana, Amish Paradise, White & Nerdy, and Word Crimes.
He also writes some of original songs, like Dare To Be Stupid, You Don’t Love Me Anymore, and Harvey the Wonder Hamster. And he and his band have toured numerous times over the years performing both those originals and the parodies.
And now, Yankovic and his band are teaming up with a full symphony orchestra for his Strings Attached tour, which comes to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands on Saturday, June 15.
In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Michael Hagerty catches up with Weird Al before his Houston performance to talk about how the Internet has changed the song parody business, how he’s evolved as a musician, and about touring with an orchestra.
