The Thai way of life in the past was a rural way of life in an agricultural society where most people were bound to nature and the environment. Each family kept animals for use, for food, and for hobbies such as chicken farming, cattle farming, buffalo, and fish biting, etc.

Upon completion of the harvest season, villagers often adopt their own raised animals in activities beyond what they are, such as biting fish, beating chickens, buffalo running races, and bumping cows, etc., so that they become the traditions and customs of rural society and are also transformed into gambling.

For more than 200 years, Thais have known to raise and bring fish bites to fight, because fish bites are characterized by their endurance, colorful fighters that have become popular sports games.

According to the fish biting legend, there is no evidence of any date, but there is a story that in the days of Sri Ayutthaya, the Mons and Burmese spread it to Thai people to play during traditional festivals, and the Thais taught fish biting in return. Later, Burma brought fish biting back to the country and became very popular.
