Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An aquatic herb, it cna grow emersed or fully immersed in water and has a compact and bushy growth form. 
Foliage The simple leaves are spirally arranged and have wavy leaf margins. The internodes lengthen if the plant is grown emersed in water. 
Flowers The plant bears purple flowers on a terminal spike. 
Cultivation It is best grown under full sun, in fertile growing media rich in nitrogen. This would give the plants a more compact growth form.
