Aphyosemion tirbaki is on the Red List of Threatened Speciew. The fish is known from a restricted area, in brooks and small streams in the rainforest of the Lekoudi River basin in southwestern Gabon where it is threatened by commercial manganese mining and urban and agricultural pollution.
