GULF BIRD AID
Concerned about the BP Gulf oil spill's effect on wildlife, especially birds? This is a frustrating time for those of us who want to help: Experts advise that only skilled workers are needed to mop up beaches and wash oily birds. However, you can send donations to groups that are working to save birds and document the spill's impact on them:
Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research is in charge of rehabilitating animals affected by the spill: www.tristatebird.org. And the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is conducting a number of important on-ground bird surveys: www.birds.cornell.edu/netcommunity/Page.aspx?pid=1478.
