About to get my fronts tinted, not messing with the back. New to Arizona so been shopping tint places trying to get a price and quality work (if you live in NJ go to Dynamic Tint, best tint work I've EVER had) usually would just let my tint guy match it on my last few trucks and was happy with it. I know factory rear is somewhere around 25-30% and in theory 20-30% in the front should give you a matched look, but part of me is wondering if I should just stick to 35% to a) keep it legal b) kinda digging the non-teenager slightly lighter up front look. Been scouring here and google and can't make up my mind, is the 35% gonna be silly light? As always respect your guys and gals input! Cheers.

I've had 35% on the front on my last three cars, and IMO it's the perfect for the front windows. Provides enough privacy and not super duper dark.

20% is darker than the factory rear tint by a bit. I'd rather be lighter on the front two windows than darker.

After doing 20% on my front I realized I wasn't going to be happy and had AIR 80% installed on the rear/back glass to even it out.

If you do a lot of city driving (well lighted streets), 20% would be fine.

If you live out in the boonies, I'd stick with 35%.

I have 15% fronts, and 50% over the rear factory tint. Perfect match, looks awesome, but can't see shit out the sides if there are no streets lights. I run my fog lights, which helps peripheral vision.

Factory tint in the back, 35% ceramic tint in the front. It's perfect imo.

When tinting the rear windows... is it typical to go lighter than the fronts if you are placing film over the factory tint? I am considering going 15% on the front & back windows... but should I be going 15% on fronts and something a little lighter on the backs? Matching is the goal.

Before anyone says anything... Yes I do want to go 15% because I prefer darker for where I park my car during work (asphalt parking lot of a shopping center). It provides the privacy and heat rejection that I am looking for.

I used 3M from, back and windshield...50 on windshield is perfect..Darker would give cops chance to stop me....California can't have on windshield....Sides and back are 35, 20 repspectvely...Matches the OEM tine and keeps out heat so well don't need window screens.....I forgot the type 3m .......will go out and get it and either edit or post again

I went 35% front and 20% rear on top of the factory smoked glass on my old truck. It came out to about 7% tint, and loved it. It looked so damn good.

I did exactly the same, 35% on the front to be legal, and 20% on all the backs. I wished I would have gone 15% on the back because I can still see in if I have lighter colored items on my rear seats. I also put 10% on the moonroof. I like the look. It doesn't match, but I didn't care about that since every one of my trucks and SUVs has always had darker tints on the rears for privacy. In Hawaii, the backs can be blacked out if you want for SUV and Trucks. Law that has been in effect since the 80's. Sedans need to have max 35% all around.

Where did you get it done. I was thinking of Omar's based on a review in the AZ section.

Based on your math and other pics, it looks like factory is 35%. Agreed? So I would need a 57% to get it to match 20% all around.

Err, I wonder if the factory glass color has changed over the generations.

I'm in Tucson, so I had a hard time deciding between the Specialists and Affordable, went with Affordable based on CS reviews. They did a great job, have had all 6 prior tacomas tinted along with other vehicles, craftsmanship was awesome, though the price seemed a bit steep but that seems to be an AZ thing compared to NJ.
