It’s been five years since rap icon Nicki Minaj released her last album, but now she’s back—and on the cover of Vogue!—with Pink Friday 2, out next month.

Chioma got to meet Nicki in the New York City studio where she’s worked on some of the new record. Bathed in pink light, they talked all about Nicki’s Vogue shoot with her young son (whom she calls “Papa Bear”), photographer Norman Jean Roy, and contributing fashion editor Max Ortega. (The session marked everyone’s first Vogue US cover.) Nicki also got into her style evolution and an infamous picture, from 2011, in which she’s seated next to Anna Wintour at a Carolina Herrera fashion show—and they’re wearing nearly matching outfits

Before getting into the feature interview, however, Chloe and Chioma discuss the 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced this week. “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” will uncover pieces from the Met’s vast archive that have become too fragile to wear—but are no less beguiling to look at. The hosts also go over their personal best-dressed lists from the 2023 CFDA Awards (hint: Chloë Sevingy and Ayo Edebiri both made the list!).
