Motte & Bailey Castle

I’m making a digitial reconstruction of a Danish Motte & Bailey type of castle from the mid-14th century for a museum. It is intended for animation and I’m rendering on a 1080Ti and this image takes about 11 sec. to render including the post-processing in the compositor.

I’m using Eevee for this project. I want to know if this is a decent quality for an animation.

Do you think this quality is good enough for an animation? Or does it need more work?

I think that the mist gets in the way – and the plants in the water look like phantoms. I suggest generally that you use colors for the lights such as “late evening sun.” Also, “do things” to the textures so that they’re not all the same. Right now, to my eye, “everything is more-or-less gray.”

The detail, however, is excellent.

To me something looks off with the shadows- it may be the relative angles but there are heavy shadows on the RH drawbridge and gable roof, then some strange shadow (?) at the very top of the roof with the exposed rafter ends in the middle and on the wall below it. But the big building to the left and it’s wall have no shadow and are evenly lit. Putting a bit more shadow on the walls facing the viewer would also explain the form of these elements.
