The English Dairy or Bellis perennis produces carpets of dense rosettes of deep green foliage out of the centre of which grow short stems.
Atop of these are held masses of multi petaled flowers that come in a variety of pinks and whites with golden centres. Many new cultivars are now available in double, semi-double or double-button forms and colours range from whites and pinks through to deeper ruby reds.
Great for edging of flowerbeds or as a great contributor to a mixed pots they are a classic spring and summer flower that adds a simple happiness wherever its grown.
It is not a great fan however of hot and dry summers, so keep it cool and well watered with a decent amount of dappled shade in hotter climates.
