A single, raw sardine, or european pilchard, Sardina pilchardus, that was caught with a fishing rod using small lures known as micro feathers, from a boat in the English Channel. It is seen here on the deck. Under about six inches, as in this case, the european pilchard is called a sardine, but they are the same creature.
