RFM8GC2K–It was not until 1967 that Bruun's cleaning partner shrimp (Urocaridella antonbruunii: 2 cms.) was classified. Clearly, marine biologists had not noticed it before. This is not entirely surprising as it is tiny, transparent and lives in groups inside small reef crevices, where it hangs motionless in the water. Such places are cleaning stations, where fish come to have dead skin and parasites removed by little animals which elsewhere would be eaten. This symbiotic relationship is comparable to the ancient Greek Olympic Truce - normal behaviour is suspended to mutual advantage. Egyptian Red Sea.

Both San Diego fairy shrimp (Branchinecta sandiegonensis) and versatile fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lindahli) are known to occur in this area and are in the same genus. To determine the species the animals need to be examined under a microscope.

For years, off-roading has been a problem aboard the air station. All the areas hosting the endangered species around the station are not marked.
